Quantum Conversation

Quantum Conversation - a conversation where neither party really knows what the conversation is about, but both figure it must make sense since the other person is carrying on with it and therefore they'll be able to explain the theory behind the conversation...

Since neither party wants to look stupid in front of the other they carry on with the conversation until it appears to reach a natural halt or both parties get completely stuck and it ends with some head nodding and slow shuffling away to talk to someone else quick (especially at parties).

Why a "quantum conversation"?

The idea came after reading a newsgroup posting about something in quantum physics. Both parties appeared to be talking total gibberish but both also appeared knowledgable in this gibberish therefore I assumed they both knew what they were talking about.

It was only afterwards that I began to wonder and therefore this idea sprang up.

Somehow I suspect the same applies to the readers of this site and may explain why no one ever contacts me by e-mail :( - unless they just figure I'm an absolute geek and therefore way too dangerous to actually know?
